The annual event, normally a regular fixture for East African nations Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, will this year attract a record eight nations, with all of Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, and Zanzibar expected to field teams in the tree days of competition.
The Chipkizi Cup, now in its 16th year, has become the heartbeat of youth sports in Africa.
The football tournament remains its flagship, but the inclusion of swimming, now in its third edition, and basketball, entering its second year, reflect the event’s evolution into a true international sporting festival. It’s a transformation that has not only diversified competition, but also strengthened cross-cultural connections and sports development across the continent.
Kenya will field a formidable lineup of both schools and club swimming teams.
Among those confirmed to compete include: Pioneer School, St. Bakhita School, Mustard Seed International, Juja St. Peter’s, Woodcreek School, Juja Prep School, Orca Swim Club, Rusinga School, Aqua Wave Swim Club, Bungoma Sports Hub, Maria Polis School, Lukenya Academy, Moi Educational Centre, Gold Fish Swimming Club, Aqua SharksFin, Supermarlins, Snook, Umoja Sharks, and St. Christopher’s Nanyuki.
Uganda, on the other hand, will field clubs namely: Olympian Swim Club, Torpedo Swim Club, Sterling, Silverfin, Gliders, Aquatic Academy, Heritage, Green Hill, Hertz, Starfish, Shalot Dolphins, Dolphins, and Aqua Skii.
The host nation, Tanzania, will be proudly represented by teams including: Riptide, UWCEA, Lake Victoria, Mwanza Swim Club, Hope International School, Blue Fins, Talis, Milestone, Braeburn Schools Tanzania, North Coast Swimming Club and Elite Aqua Swim Club.
These teams are determined to make home advantage count and showcase Tanzania’s rapidly rising swimming standards.
While swimming takes center stage at Braeburn Arusha, soccer matches will be held at several key venues across Arusha, including the Tanganyika Game Trackers (TGT) Grounds, Aga Khan Sports Centre, Sheikh Amri Abeid City Stadium, and United World Colleges (UWC).

Organized by the Future Stars Academy (FSA) under the leadership of Director Alfred Itaeli, the Chipkizi Cup continues to grow in scale and stature.
Itaeli confirmed that most participating nations have already registered, with more expected to join in the coming weeks.
“In addition to basketball and swimming, the 2025 Chipkizi Cup will feature a full range of football categories from Under-7 to Under-20, for both boys and girls," he said. "The swimming and basketball events will also have specialized age-group categories to ensure fair competition and development at every level.”
The tournament has also attracted the attention of talent scouts, agents, and team managers from across the globe, including from the United States, Sweden, Greece, Spain, Macedonia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya. Their presence underlines the growing reputation of Chipkizi as a launchpad for young athletes with international potential.
